Neighborhood Resident Since 2007
Active Member of the ANC Community
Member, ANC Economic Development and Zoning Committee (2011-16, 2018)
Member, ANC Alcohol Beverage Licensing Committee (2020 – Present)
While serving on the ANC Economic Development and Zoning Committee for five years, I had the opportunity to speak with neighbors about their interests and concerns regarding proposed development projects and worked to identify options to address those concerns. If elected, I will work to ensure that major projects comply with zoning requirements and consider the impacts on residents. I will also push to encourage the inclusion of affordable housing in future development plans to help preserve the diversity of our community.
If elected, I will work tirelessly to improve street lighting and facilitate thoughtful police engagement in our community. I will further address the problem of cars speeding through our neighborhood, especially on “cut-through” streets. I recently received ANC approval for a traffic calming study for the 1400 block of Duncan St. NE. If elected, I will work hard to push for similar measures on other streets where residents have concerns.
Clean & Healthy Environment
In my walks around the neighborhood, I’ve observed illegal dumping and overflowing trash cans. For several years, I’ve organized neighborhood street cleaning events through the DC Helping Hands program. If elected, I will work with DPW to get more public garbage and recycling cans and to make sure our trash is getting collected as scheduled, as well as explore ways to provide more options for safe disposal of household hazardous waste.
